Construction of Resorts World Sentosa started in April 2007. An amusement park, Imbiah Lookout, was here before.

Construction of the complex took only 34 months, and on January 20, 2010, the hotel opened its doors to lodgers.

However, the official opening,  followed by a week of celebrations, took place on February 14, 2010. Universal Studios Park began receiving visitors in March.
